One of the biggest problems our society is facing today is addiction, be it drugs or alcohol. There is a steady increase on the number of people who are in the pits of addiction. We may not see it as a problem as long as they are not disturbing other people. However, we may not also be aware of the fact that through addiction or drug abuse, the person is hurting and destroying his/her own self.

In most cases of addition, especially drug addiction, an individual gets physically dependent on a certain substance. The dependency is intense that without the drug the person might be in severe pain or dysfunctional. The reason is that the drug has by now affected the chemical balance in the brain allowing the person’s structure to crave for the certain drug in order to obtain balance.
