Thank you for your perspective. As far back as man has been able to record his thoughts they have included a entity that embodies powers that are beyond the capability of mere humans. When man reaches for something higher or greater than himself he is acknowledging the potent nature of the universe. The need to be guided by something that taps into something even more potent is very compelling. Many of the tenants of spirituality or concepts of a compassionate deity bring comfort and strength during times they are needed the most. Recovery is extremely complex. People dealing with their own addiction often ask and rely on a higher power as a way of drawing the strength to survive and overcome an overwhelming problem.

Thanks for the post.
It is good to read the UK is focusing strongly on programs of drug treatment and rehabiliation.

Education, teaching people how to cope through possible relapse is important.

Thanks for the post.
Regardless, anyone using heroin is most likely having a problem. Getting help for addiction and the demons can be done on an outpatient or inpatient basis.
Using Suboxone is very helpful

Thanks for the post.
I do agree that education is the key to all of this. The DARE program is great and I've worked with them in the past. Reinforcing what is learned, not letting it all slip away is also important.
When I was a kid they told me that if I tried cocaine it would kill me. Fact is, it could kill anyone the first time through, but when it didn't kill someone I knew, well, I began to believe the adults were lying.
Telling the honest truth and allowing teens to make their own educated decisions is a good way to approach it.

Thanks for the post.
Well, relapse is part of nearly everyone's recovery. There is always hope for people who want to be sober. If having a child stops her from using, great, but she needs to get into a program of some sort to. dont you think?
