Psychosocial theories clarify that the utilization of illegal and dangerous chemicals especially among the youth has been modeled from their parents or other important persons in their culture. Numerous studies has shown that children who has parents who use drugs are more likely to take drugs as compared to children who has parents who were never linked with drug use. These kinds of children believe that drug use is an acceptable behavior that is why they are more likely to engage in it. The cognitive theories of chemical dependency and drug abuse focus on the expectation of people on the effects of drugs and chemicals. They also consider of its appropriateness as a way of stirring upcertain effects.

There are gender differences in getting dependent with chemical and the abuse of alcohol. Most of these gender differences tend to focus on the differences in the reinforcements and punishments for chemical dependency and drug abuse between men and women and their resulting attitudes toward the use. In most societies, chemical dependence and drug abuse although illegal is much more tolerable in men than in women. There are influential people who become a model for a thinking that getting dependent with chemicals and abusing drugs are component. Currently, there is an interesting trend that came about. There is now an increased tolerance for women who are drug abusers and chemical dependents. It has resulted on an increase use of chemical and illegal drugs among women as a result. The outline of the belief and use of illegal chemicals and drugs are different between men and women. Men are likely to start the use of chemicals and illegal drugs as a mean to socialize with their male friends. On the other hand, women are most of the time initiated by some members of the family, partners, or lovers.

These negative changes in the behavior includes impairment of motor coordination, rising of anxiety, the slowing of one’s sensations, impaired judgment, paranoia, and changes in one’s sociability. However, its negative effects don’t just lie in behavioral changes. It also gives off an effect that is physically harmful. These damaging effects include having red eyes, rapid heartbeat, getting drowsy or much worse like getting into a coma, and having problems with your memory and attention.

Since majority of its effects it brings are very harmful to anyone who gets himself involve with chemical dependency and drug abuse, one should think hard before trying it.
